Beware of Parking Lots!!

So picture the scene:

You drive to the mall on your lunch hour to run a quick errand and you get there and the parking lot is full. Not the first time this has happened and considering you're in a rush, you start to scope out anybody walking to their car...you find a nice older lady and ask her where she's parked, she tells you and you wait, and you wait, and you wait, cause you know how long this could take...for them to get in, start their car and finally leave their spot (obviously no understanding of how you are always in a hurry and never have their luxury of taking your sweet time!)...but you wait anyways since there are no other options available.

Next thing you know, you're finally pulling into this coveted parking spot you've waited forever for, and BAM, somebody else pulls up, slams on the brakes screeching, not realizing that you've already been waiting an eternity and have already claimed the spot, and honks at you as if to say they were there first. I'm sure this has happened to all of us, however, I'm also sure that the next shocking scene has never since I couldn't believe it myself...

So as I continued to finish parking my car after such a rude interruption and fright, I get out of my car to find this lady getting out of her car behind me and coming up to me screaming profanities and waiving her hands in the air and cornering me so I couldn't move. As I began to ask her to move out of my way and let me pass (I'm so not confrontational, so you have to realize how baffled I was and desperately wanting to flee the scene), and BAM! She actually punches me in the face!!

I was so shocked and stunned, I've never been punched in the face in my life! I've never been so insulted and embarrassed and shocked! I didn't know what to do! I'm not a fighter, and honestly was happy to see her walk back to her car, screaming and all, and leave. However, I did happen to note her license plate number...so I went into the mall, passing all the bystanders standing around that witnessed this act of violence and never stepped in offering to help me, and I called 911. I honestly didn't know what to do. I mean, was this even legal for somebody to do, surely it couldn't be. I explained to the dispatch that I had been attacked in the parking lot and wished to file a report, they asked me if I needed immediate medical attention and I told them no. They said they would send a car and to stay where I was and wait for them.

Again, I'm waiting, and waiting, and waiting. After about 45 minutes, I call back since nobody had showed up and I needed to get back to work, they tell me somebody is on the way...so I wait again, after another half an hour I call back again and explain that I really can't wait any longer and need to go back to work, the operator rudely tells me that they don't have a GPS and can't tell me how much longer it will be till they get there.

Since the police station is only just down the road, I decide to get in my car and head over there myself, at this point almost in tears. As I'm turning out of the parking lot, I notice a police car sitting in the middle of the lot on the other side of the mall! I pulled back into the parking lot and parked alongside his car. I walked over to his window and explained the situation to him and asked him if he could take a report. I also explained to him that I had been standing one mall door over from him and nobody had come and he was right there the whole time apparently watching for something to never happen! He checked his computer and told me there were no calls! At this point of course, I replied that it was a good thing I wasn't being killed and began to embarrassingly cry. He told me to get in the car and he took a report. When I asked him what would happen and if somebody could actually get away with doing something like that, he assured me that this was indeed assault and they would work with the plate number I had given and see what they find. Not very reassuring considering they had already "not" received my calls, but I guess we'll see what happens.

Sorry for the venting, however, I found the below link and thought it was pretty unbelievable too and also wanted to warn you all to BEWARE of parking lots, there are some pretty crazy people out there!!
