Talk about a crazy busy morning...Since Caitlin has started school we've been desperately trying to adjust to the new schedule and routine, she starts at 7:45 AM! Before which I need to get the two kids, fed, dressed and ready for daycare and school, make Caitlin's lunch which is also something new, and somehow get myself ready for work (while breaking up fights between the girls) and out the door and bring Madison to daycare before dropping off Caitlin!
Yesterday it rained, so Andy wasn't going to be working and told me the night before that he'd give me a break and bring the girls yesterday morning. Well wouldn't he sleep in and only wake us up at 7:20! Talk about panic! We had already been informed on Caitlin's first day that tardiness is not accepted and if she is late, she will have to spend her recess in detention. So I warmed up some mini pancakes in the microwave, threw a uniform on her(thank god for uniforms! no more arguing what to wear in the morning, as much...), a quick braid in the hair and once Andy ran out the door with her it was 7:45! When he got back he informed me of how badly that sucked and said the principal gave him "the look" and told him not to make this a habit. Very strict! Now of course, we feel like we're one of "those" parents! So needless to say, there was NO way she could be late today!
Well this morning, just when I thought I was doing great on schedule as Caitlin and I were brushing our teeth and I was telling her how pretty and smart she was, I glanced at my watch to see how much time was left till GO time and went into panic mode when I saw that it was 7:30 and Madison wasn't even dressed yet, still covered in her yogurt in her chair!
I immediately and literally ran down the hall, grabbed Maddie out of her chair as she showed me her hands, saying, "Mommy, sticky", threw some cloths on her (realized later that her pants were a tad short on her, but hadn't tried them on in a while and no time to change), wiped her hands, grabbed her shoes, coat, my hairspray and deoderant, Caitie's lunch, and started singing the Backyardigans song, "we gotta go go go go go, cause we can't go fast if we go to slow!", loaded the kids in the car and realized that there was no way I'd have time to bring Maddie first this morning since it was now 7:38 (not bad for getting them out in 8 minutes!).
The daycare is like 2-5 minutes from our house depending on lights, and the school is about 10 minutes, give or take depending on lights and my work is about 5 minutes from the school. That said, I literally raced to the school (making one not so legal turn, sshh), double parked and ran into the school yard with Maddie in my arms, kissed Caitie goodbye, zipped up her coat and back to the car to the daycare. Of course I realized once I got there, I forgot to grab Maddie's bag which contains her hat and slippers for daycare. So I brought her in and raced home to grab the bag, spray my wet hair, put on some deoderant (at this point a wise choice since I was starting to sweat!) and back to the daycare with her hat!
I popped my head in to take one last look and say I love you and blow a kiss and heard the sweetest words from my little Maddie to her breakfast buddy saying, "no, that's my mommy!"
Now that was totally worth my morning, I thought while I was wiping pink yogurt off my white top in the car on my way to work!

You poor thing! I can totally relate! Things are so much busier trying to get to Kindergarten in the morning. I usually pack Carson's lunch the night before, which I think helps a little bit.
We will get a routine down soon! Hang in there! Also, please let me know when your bows arrive!
These kind of mornings happen often in our house....the back to school schedule has been a little rough for us too!
What she said was so cute...it is totally worth it!
Have a great day!
