TOOT TOOT!

Since my husband is the least modest person on the planet, I feel the need to toot his horn...

He just called me at work today to tell me that I wouldn't believe what just happened to him...he was driving along Decarie, a highway here in Montreal, and just at the top by the Metropolitan (an adjoining highway) he came along this accident...he avoided becoming part of it, just like everyone else coming up to it, only he actually stopped just ahead of it to find that an 18 wheeler truck had just run over a mini van. He noticed the truck driver out of his truck assessing his own damage and two cars up ahead that had been involved as well but were pulled over. However, once he looked over at the van, he noticed the people still in it!

As everyone continued along their merry way, he in disbelief, ran over to the driver who was a woman in complete shock after just being hit by the airbag, asking him if the children were alright, then he looked back to see two young girls in the back (the same ages as our girls), crying and covered in glass, but alright. He immediately pryed one of the sliding doors open to get them both out and carry them away off to the side of the road, they also had their two poodles with them and were crying for them, he brought them to them, securing them with a leash using one of the seat belts, he then helped the nanny out who was in the van as well but alright. He then went over to the mother who was driving and carried her out (at which point he asked the truck driver to at least help him carry her and if he had any flares or cones), she seemed to have had some damage from the airbag, swollen face and bruised and scraped arm from what he could tell.
The only thing that came to his mind was that there was every liquid imaginable spewed all around and the key still in the ignition with the motor running and that he needed to get these people out as quickly as possible! He then went back and grabbed her purse and cel phone and she asked him to call her husband on her speed dial, which he did and explained to him that there was an accident but everyone was alright and handed the nanny the phone as the mother was still in quite shock. A few minutes later the police showed up and my husband's work was done.

I am so proud of him and thankful that there are still people like him in this world we live in and we are both in such disbelief and awe that not one person, including the truck driver who was busy assessing his own vehicle damage, stopped to help and possibly rescue these people in obvious desperate need. I love you honey! XOX

Amazing story! I am glad everyone is okay, it sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Give hubs a pat on the back for me, it takes a brave person to do what he did.
