We've had a really busy last couple of weeks...I've been super crazy busy at work with my boss preparing for a new certification which we got last week, phew! Glad that's done although it's going to be a huge effort to maintain it now but that's another story.
Getting back to the point, my husband, bless his soul, as most of you know is a mason. Therefore, the fact that the stone on the front of our house was, apparently, not REAL stone, bugged him. He had recently re-done the facade of a neighbour's house down the street in real stone and ours not being, well he just couldn't have any of that so for the past month or so there was a pallete of stones delivered and remained on my front lawn until he planned to do our house over the Quebec construction holiday (last two weeks of July) when he had time.
We did agree to do some work on the outside of the house this year, I however, didn't see any reason to touch the actual outside of the physical house since it was fine. Anyhoo, I left for work in the morning and him and his crew were already fast at work. I came home at lunch to pick Andy up since he had called me saying that we needed to go and choose a new front door quick since our old one was, well REALLY old and seeing as all the bricks were off this would be the perfect time to change it. Agreed, so when I got home, this is what I saw...Andy is great at what he does and they work REALLY quick!
No more bricks on the whole front of my house!
No front door!
My stress level on a scale of 1-10, I'd say 20!!
Thank god for having a hubby that works miracles though with a really great crew of guys, here is the finished product, minus my bushes in the front, hopefully they'll come back next year. Although next year we want to do some nice landscaping, but I think I'll have to hire someone to come in to do it since I seem to have a black thumb rather than a green one! By mid summer I usually have some nice baskets of dried flower arrangements outside!
New door and mailbox since the old door had a slot in it.
Much different then before? I guess a bit! It is nice though and he did a good job, minus my bushes being gone!
(Only pic I could find quickly to compare with)
Stress level? Getting better now that it's done, and hubby is happy now that the neighbor's place doesn't look nicer than the local mason's (that did his)! Although he had new grass put down too, so we can't win em all!
