Last week was our violin teacher Nigel's birthday. Now let me start by telling you that Nigel makes it to our house every week by bicycle, come rain, snow or shine, from what I would say is quite the trek! He lives closer to downtown and swears it's not that far, which in theory, by car isn't, but by bike?? Well let's just say he is very dedicated to us, as I don't think I'd be able to move for a week if I did that ride!
We are so blessed and thankful to have him in our lives, he is such a joy and so very very patient and talented! Not only has Andy taken up the violin too, but it looks like Maddie may just start playing as well! Plus, once my hands have recovered I plan to start up piano lessons with him again as well!
So the girls and I got together to make him some homemade birthday cards the other day. Caitlin's was in the form of a tie, which he agreed to wear during her lesson (we've needed some persuasion with her these days!) and Nigel was such a good sport as always, and posed for a picture wearing his tie and new bike helmet that we got him (we'd noticed his old one had seen better days, and it's no wonder with all the miles he puts in)!

What a sweet thing to do for him! There is nothing better than music in the air! I am still secretly hoping that Carson plays the guitar when he is older! Is it Friday yet?!
What a great guy to indulge your kids! Also what a trooper for riding his bike.
What a blessing for you all! Clearly he relishes the time with your family just as much as you appreciate him!!
Love that tie!! :)
What a treasure this man has become. Such dedication.
It's so cook that your whole family is into all this music. Glad to hear your hands are improving. There's nothing like a house full of happy music-making.
We were all brought up on many intruments but piano and violin were my main ones.)
BTW - your ears must have been burning today. I spent the morning with Doris and we had a good chat about you. You should have been there.
