Caitlin has been taking violin lessons since last spring. We wanted to start her in some kind of musical training. We bought a piano last Christmas at Costco, it came with a bench and everything, I thought this was great and that we could both take piano lessons. My grandfather built his own organ many years ago (it took him 27 years!) and he was an excellent player so I always wanted to learn. Unfortunately he passed away when I was young so I never got the opportunity of him teaching me although he did start to a little bit.
I enrolled Caitlin at the local music school last spring and after her second lesson she decided she wanted to learn the violin instead. I actually ended up not really liking the music school and was so lucky to find an amazing teacher to come to the house and teach her once a week instead. He also knows piano so when there is time, he'll give me some time on the piano after Caitlin's lesson. I haven't made much progress though, there is never any time!!
I'm so proud of her progress, she really loves it and as it turns out, Andy is taking a liking to the violin as well and he is now practicing with her. Before you know it, we'll be the Partridge family!
Her teacher Nigel gave us a real treat last week and brought along his own violin to practice with Caitlin. He's is so great, we just adore him!

Music lessons are great! I am always amazed at the improvement from one lesson to another. Plus, I am amazed when I can actually recognize a tune they are playing.
Awesome! I never learned to play an intrument and totally regret it. Good for Caitlin and you for trying something new.
Hi Jen,
Happy Holidays to you and the family!! Did you get my email a couple weeks ago?? I was trying to get your address, but you didn't respond. I have a card here for you.... If you can email it to me, I will send it out.....better late than never.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year.

Caitlin is doing sooooo well! Keep up the good work. Nigel
Samantha was asking about violin classes and I thought she was too young but I see your daughter playing. Hmm. Maybe?! The only thing I did in school was "la flute". lol
I'm very impressed that your daughter is learning to play an instrument. And lol on the Patridge family. ;)
