This little piggy went to market...and never made it home (sort of!)

So there I was at the garden center with Caitlin, so happy with all the great finds of flowers to bring home and so proud of my little helper and as I'm loading the last bag of earth into the trunk wouldn't the shopping cart come crashing down on my big toe! After exclaiming the usual profanities one normally does when stubbing a toe or such (only I managed to keep it clean for Caitie's sake with a loud, "Fudge!"), I proceeded to lift the basket up only to see the puddles of blood leaking out of the holes of my croc just as poor traumatized Caitie pointed out to me, "Mommy you're bleeding!".

I was afraid to see the damage but I had to be brave, so I slowly took my foot out of the shoe to access the damage and let's just say it wasn't pretty. I'll stop there and spare you the gory details, however, I did end up loosing my pretty pink big toenail and it's been quite the setback considering it's my right foot and I need that foot to drive. After being home for one week, back to work for one day and then home for another few days since it became infected, I'm now back at work again and have to start a second round of antibiotics due to a second infection since it wasn't treated for long enough the first time!

So although the whole process has been painful and frustrating, I'm trying to look at the positive side of things and think at least I'm lucky it's summer and open toe shoe season, and there's one less nail for me to polish!
